{"id":24,"date":"2004-04-29T14:44:51","date_gmt":"2004-04-29T19:44:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/server97.snhdns.com\/~ravik\/wp\/?p=24"},"modified":"2004-04-29T14:44:51","modified_gmt":"2004-04-29T19:44:51","slug":"house-nigger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ravikiran.com\/blog\/classic\/200404\/house-nigger\/","title":{"rendered":"House Nigger??"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry, but if an Indian residing in the US who speaks <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jivha.com\/blog\/archives\/001246.html\">&#8220;for the other side&#8221;<\/a> is a &#8220;House Nigger&#8221;, what does that make the other Indians who reside in the US?<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\n;Calling someone who criticises us a traitor to our cause is such an obvious &#8220;Either-you-are-with-us-or-you-are-against-us&#8221; tactic that I am surprised that Jivha has picked up the bad habit.<\/p>\n<p>Not every Indian who criticises India however harshly, even when he does so in a foreign land, even if the criticism is wrong, misplaced, unfair or overblown, is doing it because he hates India. <\/p>\n<p>I will reserve my contempt for traitors only for those who take the other side in an <i>actual<\/i> war,  not a <i>trade dispute<\/i> and certainly not in a <i>business decision<\/i> for God&#8217;s sake. <\/p>\n<p>This kind of over the top criticism can easily boomerang on anyone. What about an Indian residing in India, but working for an American company, who happens to find that his interests coincide with that of the US in a particular case? What about the incessant criticism from the &#8220;real&#8221; secularists that we English educated middle-class Indians are Indians in name only?<\/p>\n<p>Criticise people like John Laxmi and Arun Shastry on <i>factual <\/i> grounds, without questioning their motives.
