He planned the layout, the buildings and the  lawns, but he left out one thing. He did not plan for any pathways between the buildings. After the buildings were constructed, he waited for a year. Without pathways, the students naturally walked on lawns. They took up the shortest path between their source and destination. The lawns showed the places where students had walked, because the grass was thinner there. <br \/>He then constructed the pathways there. <br \/>I just remembered this story when I was thinking about spontaneity and order.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There was once an architect who was designing a campus.
