{"id":2720,"date":"2003-04-02T21:18:13","date_gmt":"2003-04-02T15:48:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alpha.ravikiran.com\/blog\/2003\/04\/02\/bharatiya-blog-mela-6\/"},"modified":"2003-04-02T21:18:13","modified_gmt":"2003-04-02T15:48:13","slug":"bharatiya-blog-mela-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ravikiran.com\/blog\/vintage\/200304\/bharatiya-blog-mela-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Bharatiya Blog Mela #6"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sorry for the delay people, but today was an unexpected holiday, and even more unexpectedly, I had work that did not involve sitting in front of a computer. <br \/>< ?r \/>(flourish of trumpets&#8230;)<br \/>So ladies and gentlemen, here is this week&#8217;s Blog Mela. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bdrive.blogspot.com\/\">Shankar Narayan <\/a> talks about how blogging will change the world of journalism<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/kingsley.blog-city.com\/readblog.cfm?BID=44847\">Kingsley<\/a> takes a walk down Brigade Road, Bangalore and notices an interesting fact. <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/supersam5.blogspot.com\/2003_03_30_supersam5_archive.html#91693241\">Sameer<\/a> has a good roundup of the forces arrayed against the American coalition. <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/asymptotes.blogspot.com\/\">Swami<\/a> (permalinks not working, March 24 post) claims that an article by Swaminathan Aiyar on the Iraq war isn&#8217;t making any sensible point.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.techrose.org\/filtercoffee\/\">Mahesh<\/a> (permalinks not working, March 29 post) links to an article on how Mugabe is using sneaky tactics to steal a by-election, wants the international community to step in to rescue Zimbabwe.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/yazadjal.blogspot.com\/2003_03_30_yazadjal_archive.html#91689918\">Yazad<\/a> links to another article by Swaminathan Aiyar, in his opinion the best one written on the war yet. <br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.madhoo.com\/archives\/002235.html#002235\">Shanti<\/a> links to an article by Tavleen Singh and calls for India to take firmer action against Pakistan.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/varnam.org\/blog\/archives\/000037.html\">Jayakrishnan Nair<\/a> takes up the question of when the Mahabharata war actually took place.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.deadjournal.com\/talkread.bml?journal=aju&#038;itemid=1020\">Aju<\/a> on what kinds of blogs he likes.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kamat.com\/jyotsna\/blog\/\">Jyotsna Kamat<\/a> (March  8 post but  permalink doesn&#8217;t work)  has a very informative article on B L Rice, who was the first Englishman to document Karnataka&#8217;s history.<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/vsbabu.org\/mt\/archives\/2003\/04\/01\/what_is_wrong_with_cpi.html\">V S Babu<\/a> in a scathing post, describes the attempts by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to get Malayalis to do even less productive work than they are doing now. (Sorry couldn&#8217;t resist <img border=\"0\" src=\"images\\wink.gif\" \/> ) <br \/>(<b>Gratuitous plug<\/b>: Dakshina Kannada &#8211; the saner alternative to Kerala. The climate is as good, the people are smarter and the politicians aren&#8217;t completely insane)<br \/><a href=\"http:\/\/radio.weblogs.com\/0121664\/2003\/04\/01.html#a45\">Dina Mehta<\/a> talks of the sociology of software, specifically how discussion boards, blogging, etc. help in the formation of social networks.<br \/>The <a href=\"http:\/\/inscrutable.news-portal.com\/archives\/004166.html\">Inscrutable American<\/a> has detected the beginnings of a communist revolution in a blog.<br \/>(I once had this bright idea of sending all our communists to the US by asking them to practice <i>true<\/i> Marxism. After all,  Marx had predicted that communism would come to the most advanced capitalist country first, and India, still being a feudal country, would have to go through capitalism first, right?) <\/p>\n<p>Phew! That&#8217;s it for this week.
