Rediff.com offers one GB e-mail space
Rediff.com India Ltd has increased the e-mail space provided on its portal for free users to one GB from five MB and that of its premium users to two GB from 10 MB, even as the company hiked the single outgoing and incoming e-mail message size to 10 MB.
This was predicted (by Kings for example).
And why am I groaning? Because now Indiatimes will also do it and when Indiatimes does things, it doesn’t just do them. It talks about them. Everywhere. In the papers. On radio. On webistes.
Everywhere.
And it is occurring to me more and more that Yahoo raising it to 100 MB is a bad idea. Say 1 GB and it sounds like “infinite” 100 MB sounds just like 100 MB.
GMail = G + Mail = 1G storage
Yahoo Mail = YMail = Y + Mail = 5000 storage (Roman: Y = 5,000)
which was what it was earlier. Now it is 100,000.
That would make it HMail.
/the more you know…
I understand Y! increased it space to 100 MB but my status still shows X.X of 6.0 MB..
I am going to hit that mark, might extend it to 100MB 😛
1 GB is too much space I think. Really, me thinks google went overboard with it a bit. I like 100Mb better.
One good thing that has come out of this, is that they have increased the limit on the attachment size. That was really needed.
I was getting tempted to switch to using the gmail account instead of my ever faithful yahoo, but yahoo just delayed it!! (I dunno how long though .. I prefer the gmail interface)
let me clarify that .. i am not against 1gb space per se .. i just dont know what to do with it.
