Isn’t this hysteria over swine flu Un-Indian? Whatever happened to fatalism?
Media can’t sell fatalism. Only panic sells!
umm..what was the ganesh idol milk-drinking thing?. we like to be suitably panicked or excited about events that matter much in the longer run. like the t20 win in 2007.
rest assured this is typically modern -indian
perhaps we are fatalistic about frequently occurring events over which we have no control; corruption, bomb blasts, garbage on streets.
Plague (as in Surat), swine flu and other infrequent cataclysms still excite us.
Sensationalism beats fatalism any day.
