But southies have been influxing north since ages, when there was no IT, studying in educational institues in north, working in mills, factories, companies, hotels etc in the north, and of course working for north indians. But even today you can count just a couple of successful companies owned by southies even in south india. How many companies can you count, other than your fav narayan murthy? Also see reddy’s enlighting post above somewhere about the ownership of reputed succesful companies in india. The percentage of southies working in north india for north indians is huge compared to the very small number of northies in south india.

Is chakravyooh se nikalne ke liye you’ll have to stop consulting and get a full time job with a proper company (not consultnacy), I guess thats step 1 😀 and then everything will fall in place automatically. These gultis dont have even 10% of whats on their resume, they wont have guts to even apply for a full time job as the mandatory background check prior to offering a full time position (a general practice of almost all companies) will throw their candidature out the window and straight in the gutter and also will blackmark them. They anyway prefer to move every 6 months for a new hob probably to a new city… just like dhobi ka kutta na ghar ka na ghaat ka 😀

    I feel lost in this IT industry.
    I never had so much of contempt for my own self esteem until the day I landed in Information Technology.
    I belong to the intellenegtia of India…I studied Electrical Engineering in a premier engineering college of India
    At that time [early 2000s], IT was booming and companies were recruiting like crazy [2003 to be precise]
    I was swayed by the impressive PPTs, the web sites, the starting salaries and the media galore that these IT companies got in those days.
    Ofcourse IT has done a lot good to our country and it has raised the standard of living of the masses.

    But unfortunately, I feel lost and decayed after spending 5 years in the top league Indian IT companies.
    Even after coming to USA, I am doing the same stupid stuff what I doing back in India.
    On top of that adding more irritation are the Telugu IT Consultantaaas.
    They feel as if they are running the whole show.
    But actually most of them are cheats and they are found in almost every IT company and every city of America now.
    The other day I heard that this year H1 quota may double, so all of them in my project were having a party as if they are the ones who’ll corner those extra

    visas.

    Orion Bhai, I work not as a consultant but as a full time employee with one of the top 5 Indian IT firm and I am deputed in USA currently.
    My biggest loss of self esteem comes when I see fellow Gulti and in general kachra crowd working at the same company and same level as mine.
    My company does not care and does not give a damn whether people are full time or consultants.
    It just runs after clients and money [typical of 90% Indian companies]
    After some point of time, Money becomes a liablity rather than asset.

    My question is : “Do we have any company in the IT sector which is miles apart when it comes to maintaining good quality people, good work and good respect.
    Dont tell me the name of Infosys or a Wipro. They are junk to the core.
    I want to join and work for an IT company for which I can feel proud and not ashamed of saying that I work for XYZ orgnanisation.
    Also the recent US recssion has affected IT jobs in India and USA

    I cant go back to Electrical Engineering now.
    And MS/MBA in US is an expensive affair and that too now that getting a VISA has become a doubtful thing

    P.S : I completley disagere to your point that consultants keep roving every 6 months like a dhobi ka kutta.
    Rather, they get to see other places in the US and also it adds fresh energy in a new project which is otherwise difficult to obtain while working in

    the same project and same location specially when you hate what you are doing.

    I read ur story. What I found off was why are you looking for an Indian IT company which “maintains good people, wuality and work”. You wont find one. You thought I’ll suggest infosys or wipro, they are biggest fraud company hiding behind their brand name which they have build with the help of the black money they have earned by malpractices only. You are right, they (all desi IT companies, infosys, wipro all of them) stoop to rock bottom low levels just to earn dallars, today and now, dont care about people, quality or any such thing whatsoever.
    You got to look beyond these indian fraudster companies, find yourself and american company and you’ll see the difference. And you know there are just so many many companies to look for.
    You disagreed with my comment about consultants moving every 6 months because we are looking at it from 2 different angles. You want to change the location and project and client and people you work with to refresh, to get fresh energy for a new project and most importantly because you probably dont like what you are doing. Ppl you work with is a major factor.
    But to me, none of these apply, infact its the opposite, I love my team, my group, ppl in the department, the company, the work, frankly everything is so great about my work right now that I am afraid that if I ever change from here, I wont find anything as good as this. Moreover I do exactly what I learnt during my Masters… and there are a dozen more reasons that I can bore you with why I love my job and my work, but I wont 😀 Moreover, I love it here, its a small city, not a big shit-hole like NJ, NYC, LA etc., I am done living in big cities and all the metro-life. I am at peace here, in my small city and getting ready to buy a house now! I dont want to move, except when I am moving back to India.

    I have heard that US companies prefer GC/citizens for filling up full time positions.

  42. Orion bhai, having said so much of the negative side of the IT companies in USA and the Gulti consultantaas, I have also got to know some positive aspects
    of the same coin.

    Yesterday I read on the new channel that US recession is on a high this time and at this point of time having a full time job with a desi IT company in US
    is considered more secure and recession proof than being with a small/mid sized firm having too much dependency on the United States.

    Also, fear of job cuts in the American companies has made Infy/Wipro/TCS/CTS/Patni even more bankable and safe harbours.

    More than that, getting a fixed salary every month[Desi IT Company] is much much better than earning too high in contracting/unsecured companies and then sitting at home when the job is lost.

    Also, the jobs that American companies are cutting are all being to lost to Indian companies which is why Indian companies are growing inspite of recession.
    and all American Desis have to eventually knock the doors of the Desi IT companies after few months.

    Nobody can be sure how long this recession may last.

    This recession has lot of resemblance with the 1929 economic recession in the United States itself.

    Recession has hit all sectors and not just IT.

    Hence, on one hand losing self esteem, being a part of a huge mass/population, compromise in quality of work and co-workers, getting lesser salary may bug
    many good IT candidates, but they should also look for the advantages mentioned above.

    Jab toofan aata hai to kisee chatt ya deewar ka sahaara lena hee padhta hain, chahe hum mahal mein kyon na rehte ho.
    Na bhoolne walee baat yeh hain ki abhee toofan aaya hain aur abhee hum ghar ke baahar hain.
    Jab tak wapas ghar/mahal sahee salaamat nahee pahunch jaate, tab tak isee deewar/chaat to apne ghar ke jaise treat karna hoga.

    So it is better to do the wise thing than to do the right thing.

    But Gulta consultantaas will remain objects of hatredaaa.

    Inspite of all this the search is still on for a company having following characteristics :

    1. Good branded US/Indian IT firm.
    2. Good quality work.
    3. Good quality co-workers and not just any tom,dick and harry.
    4. Recession proof long term projects.
    5. A company for which I can feel proud to work for and not ashamed of it.

    are yaar, dont ask me about IT companies, you know I am not an IT guy. I know enough to make all the comments I have made in the posts above about IT, about gultis in IT in US, but not so much to make a good suggestion to you to solve your problems. But if you work as a consultant then ask your client if they will be interested to hire you full time. Sometimes this works out as any company has to spend more on contractors as they pay them an hourly rate, they may want to cut down on that cost. I remember reading an article about best companies to work for recently, so I googled and found the best 10 as below:
    1. Google 6. Cisco Systems
    2. Quicken Loans 7. Starbucks
    3. Wegmans Food Markets 8. Qualcomm
    4. Edward Jones 9. Goldman Sachs
    5. Genentech 10. Methodist Hospital System

    I know that Google tops the list. I have not gone through the whole list but I am sure that not one desi company will figure in this list. I am also sure that the qualities you are looking for cant be found in a desi company in US. They just drool at the sight of daalars and count their profit in Rupees and assume they are doing very well, whereas in reality, they are dumb and dont have any foresight or vision of running a business.

    Thinking about what you just said in your last post (also remember that we see at things from 2 different angles) you may be true. But I think all these companies you talked about will shut down if they dont have projects from US based companies. So if companies are laying over, cutting projects fearing recession, it’ll impact everyone. I would think that contractors working onsite will be the first to go as companies pay more for them compared to their full time employees. Its another story that they dont get all of it, vendors and employer take away most of the money before it reaches them.

    I dont know for sure, but recession has not seemed to effect pharmaceutical field much, atleast thats what it looks like at my company, on the other hand I got a much awaited promotion too this year which is associated with a nice jump in my salary. So far things look good, I dont know what will happen or what will I do in case they wont be able to employ me any more. In worst case scenario, return back to India, I’ll be happy to do that if I realize that recession has really hit the job market bad.
    Talk about going back to India to gultees they will start shivering and crying and they’ll pee in their pants – NOOOOaaaa I dontu wantu to go backu to India, I’ll sit here on benchu for a yeara, without pay, but no India…
    Worst is gultis working here (of course with the help of faarged daacuments and fakeu experiencu) get married to some village girls back home in AP, get her here on H4 and in couple of years those bitches gets a H1 and converts all her experience of cooking yidli dosa sambhaaar into SAP and JAVA experience on her resume 😀 and start hunting for jobsu 😀

    I know that there is truth in every bit of what you wrote.

    But I am shocked to see “How theez gultaa men and gulti womenaas” manage to get yinto Amiricaa and get Yes Ya Pee [SAP] and Java projects ?

    The problem lies in the entire system that does not go for a thorough background check and also in the fact that employers are looking for cheap labour and that too people who are not highly qualified or educated or having the know hows of the Software industry.

    Mistake lies with companies that hire such people in their mad rush towards saving dollars.

    Also it means that the kind of jobs for which they hire, i.e IT Coolies, are such that anybody can do those jobs easily, with some initial effort.

    Atleast if it had been for engineers or MCAs alone, it wud have made sesne. But all Indian IT companies started roping BSc,BA,BBA etc stuff. And dont tell me abt the standards of the Gultiyaas in Eye Tee companies in Amiricaa.

    Some are good candidates, but most of them have virtual experience and virtual knowledge. They dont have proper communication skills and also the only achivement they have in their entire professional life is to ‘Possess an Hech 1 Veeesaaa yend convert it to Green Carda by coming to Amiricaa’.

    I have sympathy for the poor people who are unable to make both ends meet and such people also do good work, but the remaining think that Amiricaa is their ancestral property and it is their birthright to work in Amiricaa

Whats happening right now in K’taka and TN is worse, neighbors fighting over water! Learn something from Modi, CM of Gujarat who released water for the state of Rajasthan. Shame shame SI 😀

  47. Karnataka is always insecure when it comes to water.

    It blocks its water bodies intentionally so that other states dont get a share of the pie.

    This treatment applies to both AP[Tungabhadra river] and TN[Kaveri river]

    But same shame shud hold for Maharashtra.

    Maharshtra recently did something similar to AP [Godavari river]

    Shame on Maharshtrians.

    They are even more insecure than Kannads.

    The recent outburst against Biharis was also a sign of insecurity feeling of the Marathis.

    Marathis were the same even during indepedence. They dont do anything great but still expect royal treatment. Bombay, even though MH capital, is ruled by non-marathis ever since independence.

    That is why they shifted their cultural capital to Pune, which was backward a decade ago. The recent IT boom gave the city a good look and worth living place status.

    Marathis also dont find a niche in Bollywood and their Marathi movie industry is almost defunct. Even though there are many MH in Bollywood, but they all work for Hindi cinema and feel ashamed to speak or work for Marathi.

    The bane lies with them and not with outsiders.

    Outsiders have a lot of contribution in the growth of MH GDP, yet these people are thankless and un-courteous to them.

  48. Agreed one hundered percent to jogi rao on what is said about maharashtrians and maharashtra. I dont know what for mh’ians demand anything in mumbai. The southern part of mumbai which is the real Mumbai was made by parsis and british. Northern suburbs developed later on when people found jobs in southern part of mumbai but found it too expensive to live close to work. Anyone who have lived ever in Mumbai would probably understand what I am trying to say better. The fact is mh’ians are losers in MH, they dont have anything except for state government jobs, that too they get it due to quota and reservation for mh’ians. All senior posts and of course all central government jobs are taken by outsiders (mostly north indians). Ever seen the results of any central administrative services examination? IAS IPS IFS etc… they all won by UPites and Biharis, exactly against whom violence was targeted in mumbai. If you talk about business, they have lost it big to gujaratis in owning an running any kinda business. Visit a mh’ian owned shop and a guj owned shop and I swear that you’ll swear never to visit the mh’ian shop again. They just dont know how to do it. Right from talking to dealing, they dont know it.
    Mumbai is run by outsiders and it made what it is by outsiders. Right from menial jobs to bollywood stardom and celeb hi life. You are were right jogi rao. SHAME SHAME MAHARSHTRA, you lose all around.

    Regarding the current issue, I dont understand why individual states have rights over the water on their side of a river that flows through multiple states. The center should make decisions on how to deal with these rivers and dams on them. Its the same like in US, state highways (white shield sign) are under state jurisdiction but Interstate highways (blue shield sign) which run across states are under federal jurisdiction. I did not know about there are similar issue with Tungabhadra and Kaveri river too.

  49. Orion, there is no need to mock at MH people by stating them losers or anything…It is this bullying attitude that causes deeper pain amongst all Indians. Why do we come across statements like ‘UP/Biharis win, Gujju are dominant, MH are losers or shame on Karnatak” Why the heck.
    On one hand we state that we are 1 country, and on the other hand comments like these alienate people from each other and causes cecession.
    MH people were correct to some an extent when they revolted against the UP Bihar camp.
